Assamese community is no longer confined just to Assam. Over the years, the Axomiyas have started moving out to different places in pursuit of better education and brighter career prospects. Be it India or overseas, one can spot the diligent Assamese people all across the globe trying to leave a lasting impression in the domain they delve into. They break the conventions, move out of their comfort zone to scale new heights and, set an example for a raft of Assamese people back home.
But, hang on! Has anyone ever thought about the expense at which these people are living a better life? No, I’m not talking about the monetary cost but the emotional cost they bear, which is nearly impossible to recoup. To stay away from the incredible state of Assam and its mumsy atmosphere can be quite painful at times and can easily take a toll on one’s liveliness and peace of mind. But, even between all these lows, there come some restorative moments which light up the face of these people and pick them up in a split second. Let’s find out.
1.RUNNING INTO A RESTAURANT OFFERING ASSAMESE CUISINES AND RUSHING IN ALL EXCITED.
2.OVERHEARING SOMEONE TALKING ON PHONE IN ASSAMESE GETS THEIR EYES LIT UP.
3.DISCOVERING A COMMUNITY HALL IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHICH HOLDS BIHU FUNCTIONS.
4.WHEN AXOMIYA DEKAS LEARN THAT THEY HAVE GOT ASSAMESE GIRLS AS NEIGHBOR.
5.WHEN YOU SEE AXOM GETTING FLASHED ON NEWS FOR GOOD REASONS WHILE WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES/ROOMMATES.
6.WHEN PAPON OR ZUBEEN LENDS THEIR VOICE FOR A LATEST HINDI MOVIE.
7.WHEN YOU HEAR AN ASSAMESE SONG PLAYING IN A LEAST EXPECTED PLACE.
8.STUMBLING UPON AN ASSAMESE GIRL’S FB PROFILE ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT SHE STAYS IN THE SAME CITY.
9.WHEN YOUR SENIOR/BOSS ACTS CURIOUS ABOUT ASSAM AND HINTS OUT AT PAYING A VISIT.
10.AND, WHEN YOUR BOSS GETS HIS TICKET DONE AND TELLS THAT HE’LL CALL YOU IF NEED BE.
One can disguise any emotion on the face of this earth but when it comes to disguising the feeling of missing Assam, all our efforts just fall flat. These people try hard to put the emotional connect behind them and march on with sheer nonchalance but, somewhere deep down, they always long to head back to Assam and be amidst their loved ones.
Well, raaiz, if you should really make the transition and come back, or rather stay put, is a dicey thing to say but there’s no denying that these pick-me-up moments really suck all your blues up and transport you into the realms of Axom, albeit momentarily.Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google Plus
