10 Most Amazing Places to Hangout in the City of Shillong

Perhaps for the thousandth time I say this but here I go again- Shillong is beautiful. Thanks to the just-perfect weather all year round and the scenic vales and hills, Shillong is one of the most favourite holidaying destinations of all times. Here are some amazing places in Shillong, you really ought to hang out with your friends and family.

1.Ward’s Lake

Ward’s Lake is situated just near the Police Bazar. Ward’s lake is full of fun when you have a lover by your side. And if you are single, just go with your other single friends and disturb the couples.

2.Polo ground or the golf link

If you want to be away from the crowd and spend some quality time with your friends or family, just go to the Polo ground and sit. You will feel something different and I bet you, this feeling is good.


If you want to refresh your mind after a painful heartbreak or are in need of some long-lost peace, just go to the Cathedral and walk. The soft blowing breeze and the song played in the background will refresh both your mind and your soul.

4.Centre Point, Police Bazaar

You can just go and sit in front of Reliance Trends in Police Bazaar and talk to your friends for hours length without a care for the world around.

5.Bread Café

From a coffee date to birthday surprises, Bread café is the best place to sit and gossip. Or you can have a cup of coffee and read a novel. And if you visit Bread Café, do try its Ferrero Roche shake. It tastes super-yummy. I Shapat!


A small place with good stuffs. Not a great ambience but the place will soothe your restless mind. And most importantly, the food is great and the prices are decent.

7.Police Bazaar

Yes, I know what you are thinking. How to hang out in a place like this? For people who love to talk and walk, can just walk through police bazar and can also try Chana and food from the roadside stalls.

8.Shillong View Point

If you have a little money in your wallet, book a cab and go to Shillong View point, or the Shillong Peak as they call it. The view is purely breathtaking. And yes, don’t you forget to try the tea and pineapples there.


To visit the Barapani Lake, all you need is a 100 buck note in your wallet (or more, if you want to go for jet-ski, boat ride, etc.). There is a breezy aura that envelops the entire lake just so that you feel like heaven.

10.Lady Hydari Park

This is the best place for kids. Parents can take them there and they can have fun too. The park is designed Japanese style and the place is eco-friendly. And they have a no plastic bags policy, so heads up there!
