At a height of 11800 feet ASL, there lies a grazing pasture on the foothills of the mighty Himalayas. During the summer, villagers take their cattle to these heights to graze. It is only during the spring months that the entire Valley turns into a most spectacular landscape. With rhododendrons, and primulas, and poppies, and iris blooming wild all over the valley, the place becomes so perfectly scenic you could shoot one of those Bollywoodish dream sequence music videos here.

Welcome to the Valley of Flowers. Located in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim, Yamthung Valley is more poplular as the ‘Valley of Flowers’ these days. It is the home to Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, and over 24 different species of Rhododendron flower have been discovered so far. With a tributary of the Teesta river flowing beautifully past the valley, Yumthang turns into a heaven on earth during the spring season. The valley sways like a ballerina duing the spring season with magnificent flowers adorning the entire area.

Recently skiing has been introduced by the government to lure adventure seekers. So yes, in case you ever had a dream of skiing down the snow-capped mountains like James Bond. Yes, that is happening too. Cannonball down the snow-capped ski trails, and feel the adrenaline pumping.
